Over 85,000 households will benefit from the 12.8 billion dollar Lamadi Water Project, which was launched by President Samia Suluhu Hassan in Busega District, Simiyu Region.
President Samia, who spoke at the event, reiterated the government's dedication to enhancing family welfare and promoting growth by guaranteeing the availability of essential social services throughout the nation.
"I urge you to put in a lot of effort so that we can raise more money, improve development, and establish Tanzania as an independent country," she continued.
Previously, only 23% of the area had access to clean and safe water, according to Watesr Minister Jumaa Aweso.
But since the project was put into action, coverage has increased to 79.7 percent, significantly higher than the government's original goals.
Engineer Mwajuma Waziri, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Water, stated that the total cost of the project, which includes the cities of Lamadi, Magu, and Msimbwi, is 43 billion.
She also mentioned that the Lamadi component alone cost 12.8 billion dollars and required building important water infrastructure that drew water straight from Lake Victoria.
The system can feed 85,000 residents with 4 million liters of clean water every day.
